Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through www.thebodybarmd.com and related online interactions. It is separate from the health information we create or receive while providing care, which is protected under HIPAA and described in our Notice of Privacy Practices below.

When you use our website, we may collect:

• Contact form details: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the treatment you're interested in, and any message you choose to include.
• Consultation request details: the answers and contact information you enter in our Treatment Finder when requesting a consultation.
• Automatically collected data: standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device, and pages viewed, gathered through cookies and analytics.

Please provide only the information requested. Email and phone are not the place for medical history, diagnoses, or other sensitive health details; those belong in your consultation.

Consultation requests are made through the Treatment Finder on this site. There is no online self-booking: our team contacts you to arrange a consultation. The information you enter is delivered to our team through third-party customer relationship, messaging, and email providers that process it on our behalf under their own terms and privacy practices.

We do not control, and are not responsible for, the independent data practices of those vendors.

As a medical practice, health information we create or receive in the course of providing care (“protected health information,” or PHI) is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Our Notice of Privacy Practices describes how PHI may be used and disclosed for treatment, payment, and health care operations, and the rights you have with respect to that information.

The Notice of Privacy Practices is provided to patients at the practice and is available on request.

Information you send by email or enter in the Treatment Finder is generally not PHI and is not sent through a HIPAA-secure channel. Health information is collected and protected separately once you become a patient.

We use the information you provide to:

• respond to your inquiries and questions;
• schedule, confirm, and manage appointments;
• provide the information or services you request;
• operate, maintain, and improve our website; and
• comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

The Body Bar MD may send you text messages about your consultation request, appointment scheduling, confirmations and reminders, follow-up after a missed appointment, answers to questions you ask us, information about your treatment, and occasional clinic offers.

You agree to receive these texts by submitting the Treatment Finder on this site, whose disclosure is shown directly above its “See My Next Step” button, or by ticking the optional box on our text updates page. If you text us first, you agree to receive our replies to your message. Texts may be automated and may be sent by SMS, MMS or RCS.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out of further messages, or HELP for assistance. You can also call us at 443-355-0777 or email hello@thebodybarmd.com.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any product or service, and you can request a consultation without it: call us at 443-979-8647 or 443-355-0777 to schedule instead.

Mobile opt-in information and consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Text messages are handled by our practice management and customer relationship management providers solely to deliver these messages on our behalf.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies, along with analytics tools, to understand how visitors use the site and to improve performance. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function as intended if you do.

We also record which link, ad or search brought you to this site, and keep that on your own device for up to 30 days, so that if you later request a consultation we know which of our listings and ads is working. Clearing your browsing data removes it.

When you use our Treatment Finder, we record which of its steps you reach, the page it is on, your device type (phone or computer), the treatment you are looking at, and the link, ad or search that brought you. We use this to see where the Treatment Finder is confusing so we can improve it. We never record your answers, your name or your contact details with it, we do not share it with Meta, Google or any other advertiser, and we delete it after 90 days.

We retain contact-form information only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and to meet our legitimate business and legal-compliance needs. Medical records, once you are a patient, are retained in accordance with Maryland law and professional recordkeeping requirements.

Under the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA) and other applicable law, Maryland consumers may have the right to:

• confirm whether we process your personal data and access that data;
• correct inaccuracies in your personal data;
• delete personal data you have provided;
• obtain a portable copy of your personal data; and
• opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will verify and respond to your request as required by law.

We maintain reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect the information you share with us, and this website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our website is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated policy on this page.
