How Much Does TRT Cost? What the Monthly Fee Actually Covers

Clinics quote TRT cost in very different ways: some list a medication price alone, others roll in labs and visits, so two numbers on two websites rarely mean the same thing. Here is what TRT actually costs at The Body Bar MD in Ellicott City, exactly what the monthly fee includes, and the two things that explain why TRT cost varies so much from one clinic to the next.

What TRT costs here, in one place

Clinics advertise TRT cost in very different ways. Some quote a monthly medication price alone; others roll in labs, visits, and monitoring. That makes two numbers hard to compare unless you know what each one includes, so here is what you actually pay at the TRT program at The Body Bar MD in Ellicott City, with nothing left out.

The monthly program is $199, and that fee includes your medication, quarterly labs, physician oversight, dose management, and ongoing visits. It runs month to month with no contract. Before that monthly fee starts, there is a baseline evaluation: $299, or $249 with the current new patient offer through November 30, 2026, credited to your first month if you start TRT within 30 days of your plan review.

Both prices are paid out of pocket, and neither one depends on which town you live in or how you found the practice.

What the $199 a month actually includes

A flat monthly number only tells you something once you know what it covers. At this TRT program, $199 a month includes four things, not one.

  • Medication: your testosterone prescription at the dose your physician sets.
  • Quarterly labs: testosterone, hematocrit, PSA, and estradiol rechecked every three months during your first year.
  • Physician oversight: a physician reviews each lab result against how you say you feel, not the number alone.
  • Dose management and ongoing visits: your plan changes with your labs, and the visits that go with that are part of the monthly fee, not billed separately.

The $299 evaluation, and the $249 new patient offer

Before any prescription, every new patient starts with a baseline hormone evaluation: a full men's hormone panel with its lab fees, two morning blood draws, a physician visit, and a written plan. On its own, that evaluation is $299.

Through November 30, 2026, new patients pay $249 instead. If your physician recommends TRT and you start within 30 days of your plan review, that $249 is credited to your first month's $199 program fee, so nothing more is due until month two. The credit covers one month's fee only; it is not refunded or carried forward beyond that.

If your labs and symptoms do not support TRT, nothing is prescribed. You still pay the $249 evaluation and keep your results and written plan, and no other charge is made within 72 hours of your first in-office visit. Hormone pellet therapy is priced separately and is not part of this offer.

Why TRT cost varies so much from clinic to clinic

Search for TRT cost and the range you will find is wide, anywhere from under a hundred dollars a month to several hundred. Two things mostly explain that spread: the form of testosterone prescribed, and how much of the ongoing monitoring is actually bundled into the price you see.

Testosterone comes in several forms: injections given under the skin or into a muscle, gels or patches applied daily, and pellets placed under the skin every three to six months, and each has its own cost structure. Within any one form, a brand-name product can cost noticeably more per month than the generic version of the same medication, according to pricing data published by GoodRx.

The second driver is monitoring. The Endocrine Society's clinical practice guideline and the American Urological Association's guideline both call for regular blood work, testosterone, hematocrit, and PSA at minimum, throughout treatment, not only at the start. A clinic that bills that monitoring separately will advertise a lower headline price for the same underlying care as one that bundles it into a flat fee.

Neither pattern makes a cheaper quote worse or a pricier one better on its own. It is simply a reason to ask exactly what any quoted number includes before comparing it to another clinic's.

Why this program is cash pay and month to month

TRT at The Body Bar MD is not billed through insurance. The $299 evaluation (or $249 under the current offer) and the $199 monthly program are both paid out of pocket, and your full plan and total are confirmed in writing before anything begins.

The program runs month to month with no contract, so the commitment is sized to your decision to continue it, not to a term you signed up for on day one. If spreading the cost over time fits your budget better, patient financing through Cherry is available separately from the program pricing above.

If you are comparing cost from Columbia

Pricing does not change based on where you live. The clinic is about 12 minutes from Columbia Town Center via US-29, roughly 6.4 miles, and every evaluation starts with a consultation by video or phone, so a Columbia patient can ask about cost and go through that first conversation before deciding whether the short drive for lab draws is worth it.

The parts of the evaluation that need to happen in person, the two morning blood draws, are scheduled separately once that first conversation is done.

Getting a cost you can actually trust

A price quote that does not say what it includes is hard to compare to anything else. What matters is not just how low a number is, but how much of the ongoing care, labs, physician time, dose adjustments, is actually inside it.

If you want to see exactly where you would land, take the two-minute quiz, or read how quarterly lab monitoring works once treatment starts, since that monitoring is part of what the $199 a month is paying for.

Common questions

What does the $199 a month for TRT actually include?

Four things: your medication at whatever dose your physician sets, quarterly labs (testosterone, hematocrit, PSA, and estradiol during your first year), physician oversight of those results, and the ongoing visits and dose adjustments that go with them. All four are part of the flat $199 fee, not billed as separate add-ons.

Does the $249 new patient evaluation count toward my treatment cost, or is it separate?

It can count toward it. The evaluation itself is $299, or $249 through November 30, 2026, with the current new patient offer. If your physician recommends TRT and you start within 30 days of your plan review, that $249 is credited to your first month's $199 program fee, so nothing more is due until month two. If your labs and symptoms do not support TRT, you still pay the $249 evaluation and keep your results and written plan, and nothing further is charged within 72 hours of your first visit.

Why does TRT cost so much more at some clinics than others?

Mostly two reasons. The form of testosterone matters: injections, gels, patches, and pellets each have their own cost structure, and a brand-name version of any of them can cost noticeably more per month than its generic equivalent, according to GoodRx pricing data. The other reason is monitoring: guidelines from the Endocrine Society and the American Urological Association both call for ongoing blood work throughout treatment, and a clinic that bills that separately will advertise a lower headline price for the same underlying care as one that bundles it in.

Is the cost different if I need testosterone pellets instead of injections?

Yes. The $199 a month program covers the standard TRT protocol. Hormone pellet therapy is priced separately and discussed at a consultation, typically needed three to four times a year, with labs included in that program. Pellets are not part of the new patient evaluation offer.

Does The Body Bar MD's TRT program accept insurance?

No. TRT here is paid out of pocket, from the evaluation through the monthly program, with your full plan and total confirmed in writing before anything begins. If spreading the cost over time helps your budget, patient financing through Cherry is available separately.

I'm closer to Columbia than Ellicott City. Does that change the cost?

No. Pricing is the same regardless of where you live. The clinic is about 12 minutes from Columbia Town Center via US-29, and every evaluation starts with a video or phone consultation, so you can ask about cost and discuss your situation before deciding whether the short drive for lab draws is worth it.
